MEPC Business Park to Build New Commercial Property Development

A new 50,000 square foot commercial property is to be built at the MEPC Birchwood Park in Warrington. The business park already covers 123-acres of commercial space, but the new £1.2 million investment will add an on-site conference centre, which no other business park in the region has.

The new commercial property, which is due to be completed in September, will be built by a lake giving users eye-catching views, rather than the usual busy city centre. The building will feature seven meetings rooms with LCD projectors, a 168 seat lecture theatre, a business lounge, a restaurant, a Starbucks coffee shop and space to unwind and relax. The development also includes 4575 square feet of office space, due to demand from existing customers at the business park.

Jonathan Walsh, Managing Director of Birchwood Park expressed, “Other regional ‘out of town’ business parks just cannot offer this quality of choice and environment to their occupiers. North, south, east and west of this location lies a catchment area of businesses looking for a new, flexible, competitive venue with a difference, and we are confident that we can meet that need.”

MEPC acquired the business park in 1998 and since then they have spent more than £50 million on improvements and facilities. The business park which is ideal for commuters as it is close to the M62 and M6 already has a gym, fitness classes and a children’s nursery. So the new conference centre will boost the facilities already in place.

The park currently occupies approximately 150 organisations which include some high profile clients: AMEC, Atkins, Rolls-Royce, Electricity North West and the Department of Work and Pensions.

MEPC have over 60 years experience in the UK commercial property market and owns eight business parks in the UK, six in England, one in Wales and one in Glasgow. The £1 billion portfolio house over 1000 organisations and receives £72 million in rent from businesses using the 9 million square foot of commercial property.
