Guests staying at The Shard’s Shangri-La Hotel can now enjoy a dip in Western Europe’s highest swimming pool. The 34 ft infinity “skypool” joins the fully equipped gym on Level 52 of the mixed-use tower, offering bathers unparalleled views of London’s skyline.
The pool is the latest project from fashionable interior designer, Andre Fu, who is also responsible for the Shangri-La’s Asian inspired Gong bar.
Hotel guests – who pay upwards of £450 per night for a room 600 ft in the sky – will have exclusive use of the pool which is open from 6am to 8pm every day.
Providing they are prepared to pay a minimum of £45 per person, visitors to Gong will be allowed to drink around the pool from 8.30pm onwards, but the water will remain strictly off-limits.
Shangri-La general manager, Darren Gearing, told the Evening Standard that he is delighted by the opening of the hotel’s latest facility.
“The stunning infinity pool, which faces west across the capital’s iconic skyline, adds a unique touch not only to the hotel but to London’s luxury nightlife scene,” he said.
