The Pros And Cons Of A Serviced Office And Who are they For?

Should you be searching for commercial property space for your business, one option to consider is a serviced office.

You should consider carefully whether you think a serviced office would be right for your business as there are both pros and cons.

A serviced office can offer the majority of your required services, although you are likely to find yourself sharing a building with multiple companies. Serviced offices are often available on short term contracts, which can be very useful if you are an expanding company.

Services included can vary dependant on the office. However things such as the internet and your utility bills are invariably included in your rent, which can make things much simpler when you are working out your finances.

Serviced offices are often popular with smaller companies or new companies finding their feet, as they can provide furniture, thus offering a good option for businesses that still need to acquire their own equipment.

The fact that you won’t have to worry about repairs or maintenance is another reason serviced offices are popular. You will pay a service charge for these services as part of your rent, which means you don’t run the risk of being hit by any unexpected charges should something go wrong.

However, one drawback of having a serviced office is that they can be much more expensive than offices where you are responsible for sorting everything out yourself. This is because of the multiple services which will be added onto the rental. It can often be more cost effective to shop around and sort it all out yourself. It is therefore important to weigh up the benefit of having all your needs taken care of, against the possibility of having to pay more for those services.

Another downside to a serviced office is that it is not a permanent solution, businesses often say that serviced offices don’t really feel like their own.

Serviced offices are generally seen as a short term solution, so you will need to develop a longer term strategy to complement this and make sure that your business can grow to its full potential in its surroundings.
