Top 10 Bizarre Requests for Serviced Office Space

Posted on 22 August, 2011 by MOVEHUT

UK based officebroker.com provides commercial office space for businesses anywhere in the world. Since starting the company in 2006, they have had many weird and wonderful client requests of how the office space needed to be used.

Here are our favourites:

  • An office to include its own bomb shelter which would withstand any terrorist attack including nuclear or germ warfare
  • A request for diamond studded toilet seats
  • A pregnant Managing Director asked for a built-in baby scanner
  • A Managing Director who asked for a tank to be built to house his large collection of piranhas
  • A gallery to be built adjoining an office to display a collection of stuffed animals
  • A built in office to wash cars
  • A rural office needed be at least one mile from the nearest farm so that staff would not be distracted by ‘country smells’
  • A Feng Shui obsessed Managing Director requested an office with all windows and doors facing east
  • An office room with just six bar stools inside, as the company wanted to sit on the stools and look at images projected on a wall
  • An IT company that insisted that there were to be no bars or outlets selling alcohol within walking distance of the office.

However, it was not made clear if the peculiar requests

were fulfilled or not. Jim Venables, Managing Director of officebroker.com explained, “We will always go out of our way to try and meet clients’ needs and, because our property portfolio is so extensive, we are almost always able to oblige.” He then went on to say, “However, as far as the request for attractive receptionists was concerned we did have to point out to our client that ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder!”

With the requests being so diverse, it does make us wonder what unusual requests the company will receive in the future.
