I am starting to suffer from back ache at work. To long sitting at the computer terminal in my serviced office suite and not enough exercise I suspect.
So, instead of participating in exercise I decided to buy a new office chair. Spare no expense, I told my secretary, just get me the best that you can.
The Emperor weighs in at a cool £30,000 for the Windows version and another £1500 for the Mac version. It was created in 2010 by Canadian company NovelQuest Enterprises Inc. This chair is probably worth more than my serviced office.
When you take a look at what you’re getting, just about the cheapest part is the actual chair as it has: 3 Synchronised 19 inch LCD Monitor; a 7 inch LCD touch screen; motion controls for movement; webcam and headset; lighting system; top of the range recaro seat; air purification system; battery backup and a built in PC or Mac computer system.
I feel that she missed the point slightly. I wanted to spend money on the chair, not the accessories. So I sent her back out into the jungle.
So she came back with a brochure for a chair by award-winning designer and architect Hadi Teherani of Germany. It was going for the low price of £52 000. Instead of high-tech features and rare leathers, this chair is just well-designed. Of course, it also features silver and gold plating. So that’s the chair that I bought. Well not really, as I’m far too frugal to spend that amount of money on a chair.
I found a chair created by Pininfarina, the Italian car design firm best known for designing luxury cars like Ferrari’s and Cadillac’s, the Aresline Xten could be the most comfortable chair ever made. The Dynamic Synchronized Tilting system allows users to tilt the back and the seat independently while the Technogel in the cushions makes them conform to the shape of the user. The chair is also made from a durable fabric called Dynatec, which is also used by Olympic athletes. It comes in at around £1500 and it looks amazing. I bought it and it now takes pride of place in my serviced office.
I still have back ache, but now I also have a severe case of buyers remorse to go with it.
